Reflections
Hear and Keep…
We hear many things in this world, many promises, many “truths”; but few seem to keep what they say, walk as they say, let alone have any truth remain when tested by God and time. We fall short, and our works do not endure, revealing God’s Truth versus mans “truths”.
“Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.” (Revelation 1:3)
If we cannot keep what we say we agree with, believe upon, then we are covenant breakers. From the beginning man could not keep what the Lord God had spoken.
“And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.” (Genesis 2:15)
Often, we hear The Truth of God and we agree, but we fall short to keep those things we have heard. There is no man that can keep the law of God and all that The Lord God has spoken, only God can keep His Word. And there is no man that can endure to the end without God’s Covering, Love, and Mercy through His Word.
“And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.” (Genesis 3:17-19)
Man strives and debates only to fall deeper into pride, force, and violence. The more their own works fail them they blame others, and the noise of proud voices get so loud that none can hear or see anymore. Mankind cannot keep their own works from failing them and falling away over and over to the ground, back into “dust”, as unfruitful works that cannot endure, carried away by the winds.
“Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters! The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.”
(Isaiah 17:12-13)
We cannot save ourselves or think we can make our own new “adam” and conquer the law of sin and God that way. No matter how hard mankind tries they cannot conquer sin or overcome time. Many believe in lies trying to make their own gods, their own image, and their own devices; striving to keep their own works of flesh from falling away back to dust.
“Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?” (Isaiah 45:9)
Time was made for man so all could learn and consider these things, to reveal sin, and reveal the Way, Truth, and Life, to The Eternal Restoration of the New Man in Christ Jesus, Salvation by God, in God’s Image, not mans. Salvation is The Way of escape, given to us by God, so all mankind may learn the price was paid for sin through God’s Spirit sent to finish the work of God at The Cross, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Not by the works of our own hands.
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.” (John 10:1)
Without Jesus paying the price to free us all from the captivity of flesh, none would be saved. There are none righteous in the flesh, no matter how clean we think we are, or how right in our own eyes, we cannot keep ourselves, our own words, or works. We endure for a time then we fall short, tossed back and forth, temporarily we do good then we do not.
“For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.”
(Romans 7:22-25)
God’s sight is much higher than mans, and we are to strive to be pleasing in His Sight, what He Names as Righteous, and the fruit of His Eternal Works.
“Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.” (1 John 3:21-23)
First, we learn that we cannot save ourselves, and even God’s temporary coverings were not given to us to have power over the law of sin but teach us first by revealing sin. God’s Law uncovers sin, makes us all naked before Him, but God’s Love pays the price for sin so we may be eternally covered in and by Him. Not of our own self or as if we make the coverings to hide under.
“John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.” (Luke 3:16-17)
Second, we learn true humility through forgiveness, so we may Love others as God Loves us. If this Love of God is within us then we have the same heart to keep those things HE said, to follow Him, so that our own words start to align with His, that we may hear and keep His Word within us, trust in, and believe upon, to now walk so our Words are One with His and endure to the end, eternal covering, Covenant Restored, so we can now Love others as He Loves us.
“Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” (John 14:23)
If we hear Jesus, we hear and receive His Words of Promise from the Father, and we agree and keep those things He has said through the Power of His Love poured out of His Spirit to us and commanded towards us by The Father in His Promise for us, through The Lamb of God given all power to take away the sin of the whole world, now we may receive and keep, and be kept.
“Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.” (Revelation 3:10)
It is not because we did it but because The Lord Jesus Christ did at The Cross, coming into time from outside time, paying the price to break the curse over all time, forever. Now we may receive and keep His Commandments that the Father sent through The Son, and we are One in His Holy Covenant sealed by His Blood and Righteousness that we may now receive and agree in One, as a new creature in Christ.
“For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.” (Romans 5:19)
As He is Righteous we may now walk in Him and be righteous in the sight of God, (no longer striving in the sight of man), for we know that all that is in the flesh is blinded and cannot see or hear unless Jesus heals them through His Spirit of Truth poured out by God’s Love and forgiveness unto restoration, by God keeping His Covenant with man, not man who always breaks it.
“The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.” (Psalm 18:2)
All have fallen short, all are covenant breakers, but even worse in the last time many have also become truce breakers, denying Peace with God through Jesus Christ. Some claim to serve The Lord God, and to be in Covenant, but many do not do what He has said and their walk does not align with their words, they hear but cannot keep it, and are powerless to do so.
“He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.” (John 14:24)
We are called to come out of all this below and rise above; kept in His Ark, lifted up above the waters below, we “take flight” by the power of Jesus who lifts us up to be kept in His Word, by The Promise of The Father, so we may rise above the waters below and hear His Voice and follow Him, and not be swallowed up and snared by the sea of voices below to be found among their roarings.
“But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.” (1 John 2:5)
We are sifted as wheat to then be kept in His Barn, the land of Promise, so we may delight in the Lord God and be given mercy and space as a new creature in Christ, to grow in Him, and follow Jesus to move over the waters and be kept to bring forth fruit of His Spirit.
“But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.” (Luke 8:15)
If we are provoked and take the snare of the provocation and fall backwards again to fight evil with evil, eye for an eye, then we will reap what we are sowing in return and receive the just reward of our deeds. If we sow to the flesh we will reap the works of flesh, if we sow violence we will reap violence.
“He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.” (Revelation 13:10)
Evil responses reap evil in return, and this snare leads many into the captivity of perpetual desolations. All must be measured by the same word one judges with. What you say and do to others you live and die by the same, you must reap what you sow, and all in Adam are under the curse of the law of sin that holds power over it, none escape it. Jesus made the Only Way of escape, revealing the Truth of God in Him, making The Way to have Life, and Life Eternal.
“Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”
(Romans 12:17-21)
At times we may feel trapped in at all sides surrounded by tall waves we can feel like a tiny island that is getting smaller and smaller as the sea and waves crash over all around it inside a large storm.
Jesus was surrounded on all sides and He knows how we feel, and He knows the Will of The Father, and how to walk through and above it all. As we follow Jesus He says to not fear, He will never leave us, no matter how it may look at times; even if for a short time it feels like we may be overtaken, sink and drown.
Peter started to sink and Paul was shipwrecked, but they were not bitter or forsaken. They passed through it all by the Love of God with them and in them, and nothing could hurt or stop the walk of their Testimony as they followed Jesus and fulfilled all they were called to do and say.
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” (Romans 5:1-2)
No storm or shipwreck, or any other trouble, can stop those called by Jesus from fulfilling their walk of their Testimony in Him who are called and chosen to walk it out to fulfill on earth what is written in heaven. Not even death and hell can stop the work thereof of His Word and Testimony that overcomes all for our Testimony to be kept in Him forever.
“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.” (Jude 24-25)

This is your Serendipity moment… Your date with the Divine, so to speak. All are worthy and invited to this table, as we gather together of one accord, for the purpose of glorifying Jesus in the Name of Love, Himself.
