The Place of Anointing…
It is written, apart from Jesus we can do nothing – But do we realize we shouldn’t? We shouldn’t ever send ourselves or try to lead others when we do not even allow the Lord to lead us personally. Those who truly are sent divinely by the Lord are anointed to serve Him by serving others – everything else is just vanity. How do we know? Authentic workers most often “smell” like sheep – meaning, they contain the experience oil of being delivered from that very thing you struggle with – they do not scrutinize, because they’ve been there done that and can light up your path to Jesus, the Only Deliverer Who is truly moved by compassion to embrace and clean you up too.
There are two types of harvest field workers – those who are clean inwardly and may look a little shady outwardly, falling occasionally, or those who are polished outwardly, while inwardly they are dead. When we forget how far we too have fallen… we get prideful, impatient and often send ourselves and get beaten with many stripes because the Lord loves us and doesn’t want us to climb the pride ladder so high the fall would eternally kill us. Here’s some wisdom… when we forget that we too were slow to surrender to Jesus, choose sin over Him and refused to repent being lukewarm so we believe now we are squeaky clean and everyone else is dirty in need of our scrubbing hands and words. This is how it often plays out – we send ourselves out to clean everyone up and in the process we only see their dirty flesh – so guess what? The spots on our flesh react to their flesh and makes us remember that sin that tainted the garment and there births a bullhorn Christian, who tries to subdue everyone else’s flesh, ignoring the fact they have their own fleshly ways still trying to overtake them. But if we remember continually how far we have fallen, we remain in a repentant state of readiness to be sent and used by the Lord at any given moment, no longer thinking ourselves to be higher than we ought, we come with the Gospel of peace, inviting all to come to the table, instead of stoning people and running them off. Do you know that for some people you will be their only interaction with Jesus their whole lives? That is so very serious, may we represent Him just as He is, not how we desire or perceive Him to be.
Psalm 102:15
Saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones, and do My prophets no harm.”
The Lord keeps very careful watch over those He anoints and sends out to do His will in carrying the Gospel out to others. Which is why we really give no thought as to what we will face, taking nothing with us or entertaining thoughts that harm may come our way… we just go when He gives the command, knowing He will watch over us.
Mathew 9:35-38
Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
The anointed ones see others through Jesus’s eyes of compassion, being moved by the condition of weariness held within so many. The laborers are few because most are not willing to do things His way, surrendered and obedient in servitude to Jesus, just to name a few reasons.
Romans 10:14-15
How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!”
How will they hear unless one is sent? How true a statement… But even truer is this… How will we preach the Gospel unless Jesus sends us? We cannot, we may try, but in our own power we will fail. But for those who wait upon Him to send them… they are beautiful, preaching a Gospel of peace while ushering in tidings of good things to all who listen.
1 Corinthians 2:9
But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
We have such a heart touching promise here… Because we love the Lord so very much, as of yet… We have not seen or heard or even have the desires in our hearts for what He has planned for us one day.
2 Corinthians 9:7
So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
When giving anything of ourselves… it must come in authenticity of the heart… not of binding necessities or certainly with a grudge due to requirement… but we everything we have been granted to us by Jesus we are to cheerfully give to others… our love, kindness, compassion, finances, petitions… whatever He gave us freely, we give freely, void of condition because that is how Jesus loves.
Revelation 3:8-12
“I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. Indeed I will make those of the synagogue of Satan, who say they are Jews and are not, but lie—indeed I will make them come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you. Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth. Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.
This is one of my favorite verses to go to when I am weak and depleted… Jesus knows and He cares and understands our human frailties. Man may not understand, but He does. He does not reject us when we have little strength because even in the midst of all the weariness – we keep His word and do not deny Him. One day, one fine and glorious day… all those who thought we were nothing will KNOW THAT HE LOVED us too… the little ones, the broken ones, the much afraid and crippled who kept falling. Right now people, even declared Christians think they are better than us and even think Jesus doesn’t really love us because of our frailties and little faith at times – but if we hold fast until He comes, He will show them just how wrong they were in their thinking. What an encouraging promise to those of us who are doing our very best!
John 14:21-23
He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and [a]manifest Myself to him.” Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?” Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.
Jesus wants us to have integrity at all times, even when no one is watching we do the right thing because we love Him. When we do obey, He reveals more of Himself to us in a most precious way. He only abides in an obedient vessel who loves Him whole-heartedly.
Ephesians 4:22
…that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts…
The anointed by God have totally rejected the old person they were… they do not think, act, walk or behave in ways they used to… anything that corrupts us, we will reject and not gain entrance into our lives anymore. The person has died, it is finished, we are redeemed and can no longer be tempted by the devil to corrupt ourselves when sold out to Jesus.
Mathew 16:24-26
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
This is a big one and very telling on who is and is not denying themselves and trying to save themselves anymore… So many people conjure up ways to save their lives these days… But remember, we are focusing on the anointed ones today, who do not store treasurers up on Earth, who do not consider what clothes they will wear or what they will eat and they certainly do not devise ways to defend themselves in anyway. The anointed have a knowing, their days are held in the Lord’s hands and nothing may harm them unless He permits it. They rest in Jesus, trust in Jesus and go with the flow under the shadow of His loving embrace. They are sent and go, no matter where that may be, taking no thought of saving
their lives in the process. The safest place to be is always in obedience to Jesus and nothing we do here on Earth, no matter how hard we try can alter His numbered days declared over each one of us.

… the ANOINTING we contain when being sent by the Lord as His friend, having laid our lives down in totality for Him, no longer just merely a servant. That is who is sent out among the harvest field as a worker.
What does that look like really? I made a list…
• Jesus equips us first for the calling He places upon us
• Divinely protected to fulfill the calling because we remain constantly under His covering
• He fills us with words to communicate what He is says to the churches
• We have a God given ability to be His hands and feet
• Overcome all obstacles that rise up against us
• Operate in a Spiritual authority, not our own, to stand against all the wiles of the enemy
• Consecrated for divine usage only through daily surrender to Him
• Walk consistently in repentance
• Have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit which grants us; insight, wisdom & truth
• Receive power from on high that increases our devotion to prayer and study of the Word
• The Lord goes before us to prepare the way in the hearts, minds and ears of those He sets before us prior to be sent to them
• We take no thought of tomorrow… being present in serving Him today
• Jesus is always with us as our escort, we do not run ahead of Him, He leads, we follow
• Our eyes are opened to Who He really is… You begin to see Him in truth
The most difficult part of serving Jesus as His friend is deciding to do so – Once we say yes to Him, actually doing it – no matter what obstacles we face, produces the greatest of joys and strength to overcome anything that tries to get in the way of sold-out servitude to Him.
