Reflections

Joy Comes in the Morning!

Healing Streams…

Everyone can be healed and made whole… But will they? Will I? Will you? That is the true question. Jesus gives freely and yet many choose to render up complaints about Him, neglecting to acknowledge the choice to not walking freely to Him all these choices – we find ourselves immobile sometimes by our own doing, not His. All are welcome, few find the narrow path due to self-will… yuck… rebellion, I often see it within, wanting it completely gone. Our flesh when dying curses or blames God, yet our spirits are willing to rise to new life, constantly reaching for Him… He isn’t forceful, He’s welcoming and patient when we drag our feet in seeking Him or surrendering to Him. If we can’t even force our own selves – we might want to pull back a little on trying to force others – letting Him do the saving and us do the surrendering.

Souls need a different sort of nourishment to grow and prosper. They are similar to our bodies in that whatever we feast on, it will grow within us. How we sustain our souls by what we partake of, listen to, watch and read does influence “who” we become. The Lord encouraged us to thirst for the sincere milk of the Word (meaning His Word) because he knew only truth protects us from deception. Again, this is a good reminder to reject the Tree of Knowledge about good and evil and seek only to partake of the Tree of Life, lest our eyes be opened as god’s with a familiarity with evil… God promises you, you will never ever perish for having a lack of knowledge concerning evil, but we surely will perish without Godly knowledge. Again… it’s a choice.

His healing streams never run dry – all we have to do is step inside His offerings and be healed, cleansed, strengthened to keep walking. Much Afraid has given us such an encouraging example of no matter how broken, frail, misfitted, misguided and wounded you are… the benefits of walking by faith and not sight while seeking Jesus more than anyone or anything else to satisfy He does all the work in His loving embrace. Because of HIM, all excuses and failures to launch on our part fail. His gift is freely given to all who seek Him. Thank You Lord, for You alone make all things new.

Some of you all may be wondering exactly when does the JOY come? When does the peace settle in the heart, contentment be the theme of the day and wholeness return to your life? I can only speak for me and my journey – but I will tell you by my own observation personally and with others… the JOY comes when we finally realize we know nothing and we get to the end of ourselves, laid bare, open before our precious Lord Jesus. Just like Much Afraid reached past the point of shame and fear where none of that really matters anymore, especially the opinions of mans or us trying to forcing our opinions on others… That is where true JOY is found in Jesus only. Sound simple doesn’t it… and it is until you start to walk it out, then you see in truth just how afraid and crippled we really are without Him being actually the Lord in our lives.

Psalm 147

Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful. The Lord builds up Jerusalem; He gathers together the outcasts of Israel.  He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds. He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name.  Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite. The Lord lifts up the humble; He casts the wicked down to the ground.  Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; Sing praises on the harp to our God, Who covers the heavens with clouds, Who prepares rain for the earth, Who makes grass to grow on the mountains. He gives to the beast its food, And to the young ravens that cry. He does not delight in the strength of the horse; He takes no pleasure in the legs of a man.  The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him, In those who hope in His mercy. Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion! For He has strengthened the bars of your gates; He has blessed your children within you. He makes peace in your borders, And fills you with the finest wheat. He sends out His command to the earth; His word runs very swiftly. He gives snow like wool; He scatters the frost like ashes; He casts out His hail like morsels; Who can stand before His cold? He sends out His word and melts them; He causes His wind to blow, and the waters flow. He declares His word to Jacob, His statutes and His judgments to Israel. He has not dealt thus with any nation; And as for His judgments, they have not known them. Praise the Lord!

This beautiful Psalm gives us another glimpse of the majesty of our Father, detailing His word going out to perform in our each of our lives and the wholeness of the Earth. He is unmatched in power. Just to highlight a few special pearls in this verse to strengthen our souls – We can believe in faith He shall do accordingly in faithfulness to those who are faithful to Him. He gathers the outcasts to Himself, healing our broken hearts and sealing up all woundedness held within. He lifts up those who are humble and casts down the wicked. He gets great pleasure when we fear Him in a Godly way and have hope in how merciful He truly is. He strengthens us, blesses us, makes peace dwell in our hearts and fills us to overflowing. His word performs quickly and it is through His word being sent, those who are not purposed in His ways melt before Him. Lastly, He and He alone declares His word to perform it – our job is to surrender to His word and perfect will.

Ezekiel 47:9

And it shall be that every living thing that moves, wherever the rivers go, will live. There will be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters go there; for they will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river goes.

Everything that our Lord touches is granted life. Death holds no sting for those who drink of Him freely and live. Jesus is continually poured out as a drink offering and to those who partake of Him in such a way – are raised to life, healed and shall live, eternally. Although some look forward to that day – for those who drink of Him continually, life begins right now, here while we are on Earth.

John 5:1-16

After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.  Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches.  In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water.  For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had.  Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked. And that day was the Sabbath. The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.” He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.  Then they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?” But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place. Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.” The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.

What was his sin preventing him from being healed? Something not many want to talk about or acknowledge within ourselves… We can easily get comfortable on a bed of sickness of complaints, instead of putting forth effort and doing our part to meet Jesus and be healed. We demand Jesus or others do for us, what we are able to do for ourselves. Many people like the attention sickness brings to them, so they stay in that place for a very long time. If healed, they might actually have to serve others, instead of being served, without being noticed… I know many people like this sadly and they get very offended when I tell them – honestly, none of us feel good really, but that’s beside the point and doesn’t factor into what Jesus has called us to do… This man we read about wasted 38 years waiting for someone to carry him into the healing waters to be made well, 38 years! When all he had to do is rise, pick up his bed and walk down there himself… Once He in faith rose it says he as immediately made well – even prior to reaching the healing waters. What an incredible story in the Bible this is. And like always, once healed and made whole – we can only maintain what Jesus has done within us when we… go and sin no more or worse things will come upon us due to disobedience.

I know this isn’t a very popular message when read in fullness, but I do believe Jesus is asking some of you all today – Do you want to be made well? And if so, then simply rise, take up your bed and walk… stop complaining and stop relying on others or Jesus to do for you what you can do for yourself. If this sounds harsh or offends, please forgive me – but take it from me, I learned this by experience having been that one myself so long ago who complained instead of walking to Jesus for wholeness and healing and therefore I can testify to just what big results happen from a little effort from us.

Exodus 16

And they journeyed from Elim, and all the congregation of the children of Israel came to the Wilderness of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after they departed from the land of Egypt. Then the whole congregation of the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness. And the children of Israel said to them, “Oh, that we had died by the hand of the Lord in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat and when we ate bread to the full! For you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger.” Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you. And the people shall go out and gather a certain quota every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not.  And it shall be on the sixth day that they shall prepare what they bring in, and it shall be twice as much as they gather daily.” Then Moses and Aaron said to all the children of Israel, “At evening you shall know that the Lord has brought you out of the land of Egypt.  And in the morning you shall see the glory of the Lord; for He hears your complaints against the Lord. But what are we, that you complain against us?” Also Moses said, “This shall be seen when the Lord gives you meat to eat in the evening, and in the morning bread to the full; for the Lord hears your complaints which you make against Him. And what are we? Your complaints are not against us but against the Lord.” Then Moses spoke to Aaron, “Say to all the congregation of the children of Israel, ‘Come near before the Lord, for He has heard your complaints.’ ” Now it came to pass, as Aaron spoke to the whole congregation of the children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness, and behold, the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud. And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,  “I have heard the complaints of the children of Israel. Speak to them, saying, ‘At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall be filled with bread. And you shall know that I am the Lord your God.’ So it was that quail came up at evening and covered the camp, and in the morning the dew lay all around the camp. And when the layer of dew lifted, there, on the surface of the wilderness, was a small round substance, as fine as frost on the ground. So when the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, “This is the bread which the Lord has given you to eat. This is the thing which the Lord has commanded: ‘Let every man gather it according to each one’s need, one omer for each person, according to the number of persons; let every man take for those who are in his tent.’ ” Then the children of Israel did so and gathered, some more, some less. So when they measured it by omers, he who gathered much had nothing left over, and he who gathered little had no lack. Every man had gathered according to each one’s need.  And Moses said, “Let no one leave any of it till morning.” Notwithstanding they did not heed Moses. But some of them left part of it until morning, and it bred worms and stank. And Moses was angry with them. So they gathered it every morning, every man according to his need. And when the sun became hot, it melted. And so it was, on the sixth day, that they gathered twice as much bread, two omers for each one. And all the rulers of the congregation came and told Moses.  Then he said to them, “This is what the Lord has said: ‘Tomorrow is a Sabbath rest, a holy Sabbath to the Lord. Bake what you will bake today, and boil what you will boil; and lay up for yourselves all that remains, to be kept until morning.’ ”  So they laid it up till morning, as Moses commanded; and it did not stink, nor were there any worms in it.  Then Moses said, “Eat that today, for today is a Sabbath to the Lord; today you will not find it in the field.  Six days you shall gather it, but on the seventh day, the Sabbath, there will be none.” Now it happened that some of the people went out on the seventh day to gather, but they found none.  And the Lord said to Moses, “How long do you refuse to keep My commandments and My laws?  See! For the Lord has given you the Sabbath; therefore He gives you on the sixth day bread for two days. Let every man remain in his place; let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.” So the people rested on the seventh day. And the house of Israel called its name Manna. And it was like white coriander seed, and the taste of it was like wafers made with honey. Then Moses said, “This is the thing which the Lord has commanded: ‘Fill an omer with it, to be kept for your generations, that they may see the bread with which I fed you in the wilderness, when I brought you out of the land of Egypt.’  And Moses said to Aaron, “Take a pot and put an omer of manna in it, and lay it up before the Lord, to be kept for your generations.” As the Lord commanded Moses, so Aaron laid it up before the Testimony, to be kept. And the children of Israel ate manna forty years, until they came to an inhabited land; they ate manna until they came to the border of the land of Canaan.  Now an omer is one-tenth of an ephah.

OBEDIENCE is key… Not complaining and not questioning God’s ways. He is God, we are not. If He says something, we do it, trusting in Him and not ourselves. He asked here – “How long do you refuse?” as way too many rely on their own understanding, festering in complaints against the Lord when things do not go their way or work out according to their plans. The wilderness is sin… rebellion over obedience with a grateful heart. But did you noticed, when they obeyed, they had no lack? He rained manna from Heaven to test them to see if they would obey. Reading this I had fear and trembling within me over the words “the Lord hears your complaint against Him…” Is that ever a sobering thought.

John 6:31-35

Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven.  For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.”  And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

Only Jesus feeds the true bread from Heaven… did you notice even Moses wasn’t capable? Why? Because Jesus alone can feed people of Himself. As He dwells within us, we can partake of Him one to another… but He always must be the true source for sustaining life. If we come to Jesus – requires action on our parts by the way… He fills us and satisfies to the point nothing but Him delivers us from hunger and thirst. I keep thinking about how the Word says, we have not because we ask not and how we are not ask amiss… I really believe Jesus wants us to ask for Him to fill us and everything else will simply fall into place. If we have HIM, we are filled, complete and satisfied. He gives us ALL the desires of our hearts, when He and He alone is that desire.

John 7:38

He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.

I mainly chose this Scripture to compliment the others today… Because we cannot give something to others that does not currently dwell within us… Belief in Jesus abiding in the heart will spill out of us without thought like flowing rivers of living water. It is a guarantee, that if He dwells within, He shall flow out of us and we are no longer broken cisterns or holding within guile and poisonous speech full of bitterness.

Revelation 22:1-2

And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

Thank You Lord Jesus for showing John a greater portion of You delivered to us in our generation by Your Word for such a time as this. I love this scripture so very much… it ties all things together, giving us a glimpse of the purposed Revelation of Jesus to us personally. When we partake of His pure tree, it gives life and healing into us. By this point in our journey we no longer desire to partake of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil… as our hearts and minds are fully given over to Jesus, the One and only Who satisfies the voidness of hunger pains with His loving fruit… the essence of Himself, poured into us, nurturing us and undeniable.
